Benches

Benches are used in collaboration with the Weight and Cable Systems, and with the Swivels. The Benches ability to adjust to a variety of different angles and to utilize a variety of different accessories vastly expands the number of exercises which can be performed on Shen Tao equipment. Benches are designed to be comfortable to touch, easy to interact with, and speedy to adjust.

The most important value to take into consideration while designing the Height Adjustable Bench was that of stability. The more mobile a piece of training equipment is, the more important it is to secure, and stabilize its moving components. The height of the bench can be adjusted from16” to 28” and tip up to 40 degrees in either direction. Adjusting the height of the bench is managed by two mechanisms.

The locking mechanism consists of a collet system equipped with a contoured handle firmly locks the bench into place. This dual system serves as a safety feature preventing the bench top from lowering if it is not locked securely. Once secured, the bench is stable and can support up to 1,000 pounds of weight. Quick release fixtures are built into the bench top to accommodate the T Bar, Back Rest, and Handle accessories. The base is constructed from welded, quarter-inch steel plate, covered with.75” wooden bumpers. The woodwork is made from Red Oak, sanded to 220 grits, and finished with five coats of hand-rubbed polyurethane. Each bench is padded with a three-quarter-inch sheet of closed-cell neoprene and upholstered in a faux leather fabric. The Bench’s dimensions are 42”x18”x22”, and weighs 72lb.

The Basic Bench shares the same structural architecture as the Height Adjustable model but does not include the adjustable Acme thread, and Collet Locking mechanisms. Quick release fixtures are built into the bench top to accommodate the T Bar, Back Rest, and Handle accessories.

The base is constructed from welded, quarter-inch steel plate, covered with .75” wooden bumpers. The woodwork is made from Red Oak sanded to 220 grits and finished with five coats of hand-rubbed polyurethane. Each bench is padded with a three-quarter-inch sheet of closed-cell neoprene and upholstered in a faux leather fabric. The Bench’s dimensions are 42” x 18” x 22”, and weighs 68 lb.

swivels slider

The Swivel Glide enables the Benches to support the Swivels and serve as an alternative to the Swivel Stands. The Glide can be easily attached to either the Height Adjustable or Basic Bench in seconds. The panels glide smoothly on a ball bearing track system mounted within the frame.

This allows for effortless adjustment of the distance between the swivels.

This accessory is constructed from1” Red Oak, with a 3/8-inch round over, sanded to 220 grits, and finished with 5 coats of hand-rubbed polyurethane.

T bar

The T-bar supports the practitioners’ knees, allowing for the performance of circular leg patterns, while keeping the knee stable and applying pressure to the nerves on the back of the knee. This accessory fits securely into a tongue-and-groove slot on both the Basic, and Height Adjustable Benches. The Baris constructed from welded steel tubing and features padding made from one-inch ID neoprene sleeves.

Its dimensions are: 21” x 18” x 1.5”. The T Bar height can be adjusted between 16”, and 21”.

back rest

The Back Rest fits securely into a tongue-and-groove fixture built into the entire line of Shen Tao Stools, and Benches. The Back Rest is used in collaboration with the Cable Systems and is used to either stabilize the upper thoracic spine, or rest firmly against the breastbone. It is height adjustable with 8” of travel. The Back Rest is padded with ¾” closed-cell neoprene and upholstered with a black faux-leather fabric.

handles

These handles serve as an accessory to both Shen Tao Benches, and Stools. The handle section is fabricated from a solid bar of 1 1/8, 6061aluminum. A 3/8-inch steel shaft is press-fitted into the handle which is covered with a 1/8-inch rubber sleeve. Once threaded into place the Handles are stable and secure with no movement, or jiggle.
