Group Classes
Overview
The following group classes are the result of 25 years of creative exploration of Shen Tao Weight/Cable systems.
With an exercise vocabulary of literally 100s of exercises, the creative possibilities for structuring group classes are limitless.
With in a given framework, each individual instructor is encouraged to develop their own creative choreographic process/style tailored to their unique teaching goals.
Shen Tao is seeking Co-Developers, Master Trainers, and Instructors to collaborate in the development of Teacher Training, and Certification programs for these, and other classes.

movement lab level 1
Movement Lab: Level 1 is a beginner/intermediate level, 60-minute group class using Shen Tao Weight/Cable systoms.
The choreographic structure of this class is organized around the 4 key principals of the Shen Tao Approach: Openness, Coordination, Strength, and Tractioning.
Each exercise is an opportunity to explore/experiment with applying the Shen Tao Approach to one’s own neuro-muscular intelligence.
Each instructor is encouraged to develop their own creative choreographic process/style tailored to their unique teaching goals.
No two classes are ever quite the same.
movement lab level 2
Movement Lab level 2 is a 90-minute, intermediate/advanced, deeper exploration of the principles of opening, coordinating, strengthening, and tractioning introduced in level 1.
In addition to the Weight/Pulley systems, this class explores exercises using the full catalog of Shen Tao equipment including the Swivels, and Ladder.
The extended duration of this class offers an opportunity to explore more of the exercise vocabulary performed on Shen Tao equipment, as well as more time to experiment with the sensory acuity exercises of the Shen Tao Approach.
As with Level 1, each instructor choreographs their own unique sequence of exercises, sharing the principals of the Shen Tao Approach in their own voice as their insights deepen, and mature.
Pilates Mat +
The Pilates Mat + class follows the same traditional vocabulary, and sequencing of a Classical Pilates mat class, with the addition of added lines of resistance provided by Shen Tao Weight/Cable systems.
The use of this added resistance offers more advanced challenges of both strength, and coordination, for those already familiar with the Classical Pilates Mat vocabulary.
The additional demands placed on the musculature from the Weight/Cable systems amplify the intensity of the kinesthetic, body-based sensations, providing even clearer feedback about correct muscle usage.
This class is particularly appropriate for more advanced Pilates practitioners who may be open to exploring familiar material from a fresh perspective.
trampoline yoga
Trampoline Yoga is offered as a 60-minute, group class utilizing
a Rebound-Air, Mini Trampoline.
The resilience/elasticity, afforded by the trampoline’s springs encourages participants to playfully swing, sway, rebound, and harness gravity in service of opening, and extending the
limits/restrictions to their range of motion.
Techniques of rhythmic breathing are explored while alternating between seated traditional Yoga Asanas, and a standing Balletic vocabulary.
The intent of this class is to encourage an attitude of playfulness while exploring a rhythmic/motion-based approach to traditional Yoga Asanas.
